Brock Lumsden‘s career began in the world of theatre. Graduating with a BFA from the University of Alberta (back when the dinosaurs still roamed the earth ) Brock went on to have an active and vital career as a set, lighting, and costume designer throughout Canada. Always looking for new challenges and exciting adventures, Brock turned to designing large opening ceremonies. He worked creating stadium sized shows which celebrated the Special Olympic World Winter Games, the Opening of the Confederation Bridge in PEI, and the Opening Ceremonies for the IAAF World Track and Field Championships – the fourth largest audience in sports. These larger events took Brock into the world of corporate events. Through a 15 year period Brock lived in Toronto and worked on a variety of corporate based projects. Through this time he became the creative director for Fireworks Marketing Group, a national event marketing company. He and his wife moved back to Vancouver, his home town, in 2001 where he went on to found BLD in 2006. They continue to love living in Vancouver with their dog Murphy and their sailboat Compadre and enjoy exploring the mountains, islands, and trails of the region.
